The Operating Instructions describe how to adjust the stylus decent position, but this does not affect the tonearm return position. Then install the headshell with the cartridge minus the stylus for not. This also seems to reset the tonearm movement zone, so that the arm cannot be manually pushed back beyond the 10" drop point, unless I run a Start sequence. Return triggers as it should in the end groove area, and the tonearm with return partway but stop in at about the 10" record point. However before trying to fix or return the arm to us, it is worth listing the other causes of hum – this list is not exhaustive. Remember, the tonearm is extremely sensitive. The service manual goes into a great deal of detail on the lift pin that raises the tonearm and shows it as having the white guide on top of it, but doesn't really go into any detail on the plunger that provides the lateral movement, considering it as part of the segment.
